During the early 1960s, THE SHIRELLES were the premier ‘girl group,’ dominating the charts with hits including “Soldier Boy,” “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” and my favorites “Tonight’s The Night,” and “Foolish Little Girl,” naming only a few. As lead singer SHIRLEY ALSTON REEVES, celebrates her 80th birthday this week (June 11), I reflect on a show that I hosted in 1988, with her, Bryan Hyland and the great Lou Christie. While I waited in the wings to take her off stage, Lou strolled next to me watching her and said, “Listen to that woman, boy can she sing.” I looked back at Lou and said to him “… yes, she sure can!”
