This week we recollect on a Motown legend, GLADYS HORTON of THE MARVELETTES, who passed on in 2011, and would have celebrated a birthday on May 30. She sang the lead vocal on such hits as “Please Mr.Postman,” and “Beechwood 4-5789.” A pleasure for me to have emceed a concert with Gladys in 1994. Also, we salute a birthday in honor of the great lyricist HAL DAVID, who with his partner Burt Bacharach, composed some of the most prolific tunes in modern music, songs such as “Walk On By,” “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head,” “Close To You,” and many other charttoppers.
