Celebrating birthdays this week… it’s a man 4 all seasons, the original Jersey Boy, FRANKIE VALLI turns 87 on May 3. Also that day, the ever zany JERRY SAMULES, age 83 (aka Napoleon XIV), known for his #1 novelty hit that held us ‘captive’ during the summer of 1966, with “They’re Coming To Take Me Away Ha-Haaa.” Jerry also penned hits for Sammy Davis Jr, La Verne Baker, Adam Wade, and others during his career. I’ve had the pleasure working with him and wife Bobbie on a few projects. And, look out “Sweet Pea,” it’s TOMMY ROE with a birthday on May 9. He had a string of hits from 1962-69, starting off with a song he wrote entitled “Sheila,” and headed to #1 in September 1962. Tommy announced in 2020, that he has retired from live performances, but will continue to make music… so jam up & jelly tight there, Tommy Roe!
