She had an angelic voice with a projection like no other, her name – MAMA CASS ELLIOTT.

In 1965, after a stint with The Mugwumps, she and fellow bandmate Denny Doherty teamed up with John and Michelle Phillips, to form THE MAMAS & PAPAS, which yielded a string of hits from 1966-68, including “California Dreamin’ “(…originally cut by Barry Mc Guire) and “Monday, Monday.” In 1968, Mama Cass struck out on her own, opting for a solo career, resulting in her initial hit “Dream A Little Dream Of Me.” Even though she continued to enjoy moderate success in her recording career, and TV appearances, she was plagued by demons with weight issues, coupled with reported drug abuse. Sadly, at age 32, Mama Cass passed away on July 29,1974.
