It was one of the highest grossing musical films ever, “Grease” which starred John Travolta, and Olivia Newton-John, was released this week in June 1978. It’s stellar soundtrack boasted Frankie Valli singing the theme song, proclaiming “Grease” is the word!  In addition, “You’re The One That I Want,” was a runaway smash sung by the Travolta & Newton-John duo, plus her solo outing “Hopelessly Devoted To You” delighted fans. And, even Frankie Avalon managed to croon “Beauty School Dropout.”

Following the much accredited success of the film, a sequel “Grease 2” was released in 1982 with Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfeiffer in the lead roles, however with movie goers, it didn’t have enough ‘greased lighting,’ and wasn’t quite the box office smash like it’s predecessor.
