In show business, the key to success, is being in the right place at the right time, and it sure was for Herbert Khaury, better known as TINY TIM. In 1968, after years of paving the streets of Greenwich Village in NYC, this falsetto singing troubadour armed with a ukulele, and a songbook of hundreds of tunes from the early 1900s, literally became an overnight sensation, thru his appearances on Rowan & Martin’s ‘Laugh-In’ TV show. His debut hit single, “Tip Toe Thru The Tulips,” cracked into the Top 20 on Billboard, and later on December 17,1969 the wedding of Tiny Tim & Miss Vikki performed on the Johnny Carson show, was watched by 40 million television viewers.
In 1985, during an interview I conducted with him, he talked about a record company he was forming with Miss Vicki. According to Tiny Tim, “… we were going to name it Toilet Records, and our slogan at the bottom was to read ‘sit and listen.’ Apparently, the venture got the royal flush, never getting off the ground, and his marriage to Miss Vicki ended in divorce in 1974. He passed on November 30,1996
