The diversity of ERIC CLAPTON never surprised us, and on May 10,1974, he slipped into a reggae vibe, recording “I Shot The Sheriff,” a song which was written and recorded the previous year by Bob Marley. Clapton’s version would be included on his album “461 Ocean Boulevard,” and although popular with his fans, the single would only reach #33 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in October 1974. Oddly, of note for the virtuoso known for his guitar playing, there was no solo from ol ‘slowhand’ featured on this song!
