The 1st wave of ‘Beatlemania’ officially made it’s imprint on Billboard’s Hot 100, June 23, 1963 as we found DEL SHANNON’s cover version of “From Me To You,” the first Lennon-Mc Cartney composition to grace the U.S charts, but unfortunately the public wasn’t quite ready for that Liverpool sound yet, as Del’s version only peaked at #77. Then in August, THE BEATLES would later debut theirs, as they bubbled under the Hot 100. And of course when the flood gates opened in February 1964 & Vee-Jay records re-released the tune, it was game on … but after it only reached #41, with it’s flip ( the ‘A’ side) “Please Please Me,” soaring to number #3.

Let’s give a listen, as Del Shannon gives his treatment to “From Me To You.”
