It was the runaway box office hit for the year 1988, the movie ‘Dirty Dancing,’ and just as exciting as it’s plot with stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray, was the music soundtrack. In particular, the song “Do You Love Me” by THE CONTOURS, which had went to #3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 1962, only to soar right back on top (#11) in August 1988, due to it’s impact from being in the film.

All this new found success caught The Contours by surprise, as member Joe Billingslea explained to me during an interview, “ … when we were told that  our song (“Do You Love Me”) was going to be in a movie called ‘Dirty Dancing, at first I didn’t want any part of it… I thought with that name, it was an x-rated film! Nevertheless, the song re-captured the hearts of everyone, and The Contours were back on top again!
