If you had to make a list of ten of the biggest songs of the early rock era, “At The Hop” by DANNY & THE JUNIORS, may be right on top! In late 1957, this vocal quartet from Philadelphia PA, helped to change the landscape of pop music with that song, and it’s follow up “Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay.” Sadly, we lost lead vocalist Danny Rapp in 1983, and both Joe (Terry) Terranova and David White passed on in 2019. In recent days (July 2) founding member FRANK MAFFEI celebrated his 82nd birthday. Over the years I’ve been privileged to work with Frank, Joe, and later member Billy Carlucci, on numerous occasions. The songbook and contributions of Danny & The Juniors has given me much joy, and Frank Maffei was an integral a part of it all.
